This is the last Monday I will be 21. That’s right it’s my BIRTHDAY week! I am one of those people who likes to celebrate all week long, I’d take a whole month if Jared and my family would put up with me that long, but I don’t think they will. Jared was already embarrassed of me, when we went out to dinner on Friday, and our waiter asked if there was any reason we were out celebrating, and I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement to say that I was there for a pre-birthday celebration, and continued to talk about my birthday being only a week away. I guess most people don’t claim that is a reason to celebrate unless it’s really their birthday. Our waiter was really chill though, he brought us our FREE ice cream to celebrate and even doodled on my to-go box.
That is my roommate, pretending to hit me. Rude!
I’ve also been celebrating by partaking in cupcakes and capri-suns every day for breakfast (sometimes lunch and dinner)
Then last night, Jared decided to participate since Sunday is the actual start of my birthday week, and he brought me home a TOAD! Isn’t he the cutest? Of course, Jared just found him outside and brought him inside. We did have a little good bye party for Moulder, and release him to be wild again. I bet it was the most exciting 23 minutes of Moulder’s life.
I think that everything in life should be celebrated to the fullest extent. Jared and I have adopted the fully optimistic attitude, where we choose to look at only good things in our life. We all have a million problems, but who cares? Let’s just focus on the good things. Of course, I am leading into that your birthday is a really fun and good way to celebrate your life! They are the only day that is dedicated to you and all your accomplishments. That’s why I try and celebrate my heart out.
I am having a bit of a crisis this year, becauseI feel like I have no idea what I want to do to celebrate. In years past, I knew exactly where I wanted to go and who I wanted to be there (like the zoo and lagoon)! This year I have no idea, but I know I want to do something! Is there a point when it’s too much? Like people are sick of seeing you so stoked that it’s your birthday 3 times in one week… Last night I was talking to Jared about the big plans I have for this week, and he was already rolling his eyes in my direction.
My tenetive plans are:
Thursday: (my actual bday) do a dinner and a small activity such as mini-golf. We’re still grown-ups and have to work full time!
Friday: Have a romantic Miki and Jared cuddle session, and go see a movie or something equally awesome.
Saturday: Take a small group 6-7 people boating for a few hours, come home around 3pm. Nap and get ready then have a BBQ/ all night rager.
Sunday: Family party where there will be a piƱata.
This is where I need your help.
What have you done for your birthdays that was really fun?
If you live in Utah, any hidden gems that I am not aware of?
Would you rather have the choice between a small dinner or a big social gathering? (Like dinner Thursday and then have a party Saturday)
Also do you have any idea on how to have a virtual combine birthday party?? Punky.. I am looking at you.
HELP!
I love birthdays.
Happy Birthday Week! This is so exciting! I don't usually do something really big for my birthday, but dinner with friends and family is always my favortie.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Birthday weeks, they are awesome. I love doing a fun family dinner and a friend dinner. I also love hosting parties, I always want a million people at my house :)
DeleteHaha, you're so funny! :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do something sporty on my birthdays, hiking and kayaking was how I celebrated my last 2 birthdays. I always love small dinners, it's intimate and like I always say, the more, the noisier and I don't like noisy. Haha!
xo,

Hiking and Kayaking sounds so fun! I do want to go boating, that is a little bit sporty. Not very much though.. ha! I love noise, well at the appropriate time. I would love a small dinner, but then to have everyone I know over for a party :) I love hosting!
DeleteI have kind of stopped celebrating my birthday hahaha....I love throwing parties for other people but never do anything for mine. hubby and I usually take a trip for mine and weare going to mexico in oct :-)
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I would much rather be in Mexico! I love to host parties, but it's easier to host them for someone else - agreed! I always try and get Jared to 'host' them when it comes to my birthday and set them all up. I have an OCD/ micro managing problem.. I always want to see the text he sent out, and exactly who to, and who has responded, is anyone bringing anything.. all those type of things!
DeleteMy birthdays always suck...people always forget it or they're too busy to do anything about it. But my Husband and I, the last two years, have taken a weekend trip to the beach for my Birthday. I enjoy that :)
ReplyDeleteI so wish that I had a beach near, the pool will have to do! I don't think it's possible for anyone to forget about my birthday since I basically send out a reminder text every day for 2 weeks in advance and post it all over the place. ha ha. I'm the annoying bday girl!
Deletewe must be really special because my birthday week is this week too!
ReplyDeletei turn one year older on that dreadful friday the 13th this year :)
cheers to us and our birthdays!
OH YEAH! Happy early birthday to you! We are the most special birthday bloggers ever.
DeleteCHEERS!
Happy Birthday week!! I'm sure it'll be totally awesome! So far your plans sound fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be awesome, I'll make sure of it!
DeleteThank you!!
Yeah I definitely don't give anyone a chance to forget my birthday, which, by the way, is in approximately 2 weeks! I also believe in celebrating everything and to the fullest extent possible. Why not celebrate?? It's fun!! Last year my husband and I went to an amusement and water park with two of our best friends for my birthday. A few years ago I had a costume party with my friends...I love costumes! I'm being surprisingly laid back about my birthday so far this year, although I am getting more excited. And I'm secretly already planning for my husband's 30th...which isn't for another two years...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Miki!!! A little early...but it sounds as if you don't mind being told early!
WOO HOO! Happy almost birthday! I started a hash tag on instagram #happyalmostbirthdaymiki just so everyone can keep up with my count down.. ha! That's how crazy I am, I milk the heck out of my birthday I just love it so much!
DeleteA costume party sounds so fun! I love it. My husbands 30th is in 2 years too!!
Ohhh I ♥ Birthdays too!!! I don't think it's ridiculous that you celebrate all week by any means. Hello, you were BORN. :) Have fun celebrating!!!! I had a combined 30th birthday with a friend downtown Minneapolis and I wish I would have just had a bunch of friends come with us to Dave & Busters. I am a video game dork. :) Oh well, next year. ;) ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I am saying, after all i was born!! ha ha! I love it, and I really do love to celebrate. I am going to have to decorate the house all by myself, which is a bit pathetic, but I don't care!! I love dinners like that, a bunch of friends and games!
DeleteYAY for birthday celebrations! I love dragging out my birthday for as long as possible. Have fun! (And happy birthday! :) )
ReplyDeleteThank you! ;) I am loving the birthday festivities already! Day 1 dye my hair day 2 manicure and it's just going to keep on going!
DeleteHey Hey!! I have been out of the blogging world for a week so it's good to be back. I will be catching up on posts I've missed so beware :)
ReplyDeleteOkay...first off Happy Birthday Week! You totally deserve to be celebrated all month. Hello, birthdays are and should be a big deal. As you know, my birthday is a big deal too, which will come in a few weeks. July is pretty much the best month ever. I think I've talked Mr. H into skipping that rehearsal dinner to celebrate mine! Yea. But right now it's about you!!
I think your plans sound great. You get all the best parts: celebrating ON your birthday (which is very important to me!!!!), celebrating with your just you and your husband, celebrating with friends then celebrating with family. I think that sounds like a great little plan.
So here are a few ideas for you part-A with your friends. I love hosting too so I totally get it. First think of a fun theme. I'm really loving the 80's theme now days. You can get a few decorations and maybe even have friends come dressed as the theme. Next come up with a signature cocktail and name it after you: the miki or something more clever. Also, photo booths are SUPER fun! You can just set up a point and shoot camera and a simple background then come up with fun/funny props. A chalk board is fun because people can get creative and write you birthday messages. We had one at my wedding and it was a huge hit.
Have fun celebrating your birthday week girl!!! It only comes once a year. You totally deserve to celebrate however you want to.
p.s. Mr. H told me he got me something today for my birthday and I had the biggest grin. He told me I looked creepy because I was so happy. It's not creepy, it's awesome! I can't wait to see the other gifts he gets too. Ha. Because we all know we deserve more than one gift! Duh!
p.s.s. Sorry for the novel I just wrote. :)
I LOVE YOUR LONG COMMENTS! don't ever apologize for them. EVER! It makes me feel like you actually read my posts, and it's like we're texting or something it's awesome.
DeleteAlso I love the themes!! I've done white trash, toga, and a few others. I love that idea. Maybe I will change it to a theme party, I just hate it when people don't play along. They drag the fun out of it! I love the cock tail idea, I need to get my personal bartender in on my celebrations. My friend, Taylor, he makes the most delicious drinks. He was meant to be a bartender in his past life I am pretty sure.
Photobooth! I LOVE IT! We had one at our wedding too, and it was so fun. I bet I could make it more birthday worthy too! I could totally do this somehow.I love your ideas.
AHHH! I am so glad you can skip the rehearsal that wouldn't have been okay in my life. I need a lot of birthday attention. That is so great!! Seriously. Also J better have gotten me something :) ha!
omg after seeing it I'm so embarrassed for how much i wrote!!!!!! oops. what can i say? i have a lot to say.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday week Miki!
ReplyDeletexo Kayla
Thank you Kayla! I am going to make it the best week ever!
DeleteHow nice of them to give you free ice cream! I hope you had a wonderful birthday week! I have never before celebrated for a whole week. It's always been just celebrating the day of my actual birthday and I get a lunch from my parents and then by like 1pm my bday is over. Lame. I think I need to really enjoy it and do something fun this year since it's my 20th.
